The Department of Environmental Protection draft plan for recreational trails is detailed in the Connecticut Recreational Trails Plan (PDF, 2.05 MB).

This document is the draft version of the DEP’s policy for the development and use of statewide recreational trails. The public will have an opportunity to comment on this draft until November 15, 2005. There will also be a public meeting on November 3 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at the Connecticut Forest and Park Association in Middlefield.

The drawing of the winning ticket for The Egg Saturday, November 5th, Hampstead, NH (we will be inside the garage and in a tent outside)!!! Show up anytime after 12pm, drawing to take place at 5pm.

This is sure to be beyond the NEOW event of the year!

Find out what will become of the infamous EGG!!  What lucky person will bring it home with them?

There will be food served until it runs out - pulled pork, hot dogs, hamburgers, hot and sweet sausages, baked beans, and cole slaw.  Cider, soda and coffee will be provided as well.

In early August of 2005, our friend, Shane Beard, was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. It is a relatively late diagnosis and he is only 34 years old. Shane is an active member of the 4×4 community here in the North East. He was the first Vice-President of the North East Willys Jeeps Organization, www.newjo.org and served two consecutive terms. He was also elected Vice-President of the Northeast Association of 4wd Clubs, Inc., www.nea4wd.org [EDIT: His term ended last year]. He also was a driving force in creating the web-based forum North East Online Wheelers, www.neow.org.

Through these endeavors he has touched countless lives and informed many 4×4 enthusiasts on the facts of legal four wheeling, and encouraged others to get involved with his understanding and easy going manner, I am one of those people, among many others. Beyond his substantial contributions to the 4×4 community, he is very active in many other realms as well. Currently, he is a Cub Scout pack leader and a Certified Master Trainer for Tread Lightly®
